Last week on the bookish internet

  1. I had a chuckle about the most scathing reviews… ouch!
I must confess I didn’t agree much with the list of the best book covers. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder. The books in the list are all of a certain aesthetics for literary fiction that leaves me a bit cold. Covers of books aiming at other segments are totally different.

    1. I know what you mean about the changing aesthetics. Over the years, I’ve discovered that there are some trends that really appeal to me (I’m a sucker for a highly decorated pseudo-Victorian cover) but the covers that strike me as sort of retro 1980s are just ugly to me.

And what’s up with so many romance covers switching to such bland illustrations? It’s hard to tell if something is YA or adult romance these days.
